What is the IPL2020?
The IPL2020 is a much-anticipated project and IPL 2020 starting date is 28 March 2020 from , which will lead to the implementation of the next generation networking protocol. Whilst there has been considerable media coverage and excitement about this project, many people have been left asking whether or not they really need to become involved in this project.
What is the difference between the IPL2020 and its predecessor? Simply put, there is a large amount of additional functionality. It is essentially a superset of the existing IML, which is the IP Multicast List, and is actually much more advanced in nature.
The IML was designed as a free alternative to the proprietary IML, but it has some shortcomings in its system. This new protocol can be used to completely replace the existing IP Multicast List and is intended to increase the performance and reliability of the existing IP Multicast List.
As with the existing IP Multicast List, this new protocol has features that will provide a great deal of flexibility to the organisation as well as improved performance and reliability. Therefore, the IPL2020 is clearly a technology that will increase the overall productivity of your company.
Whilst the implementation of the IML was planned initially to last for approximately five years, it was decided to extend this to the end of the second decade of the 21st century. In addition to this, it has now been agreed that there will be two further specifications that will underpin the IML for at least another two years.
These protocols are known as RAP and PAR, which are intending to expand the IML beyond the intended capabilities of the older IML and help to bring the protocol into line with the need to connect organisations in a wider range of markets. Although some are critical of the need to choose such a broad range of other applications for the new protocols, there is no doubt that these will have a large impact on the future of the IML itself.
What IPL2020 doesn't have though is any significant improvements in the design of the existing IP Multicast List. It is likely that the two other standards will provide a major upgrade to the existing IML, which will lead to a substantial increase in the rate at which performance and reliability are maintained over the coming years.
The SAP version of IML has several advantages over other implementations that use the EIGRP routing technique. Most notably, it has evolved into a self-healing mechanism that helps to ensure that the network is able to recover from problems as quickly as possible.
As a result, the older RIP must be considered a failure. Whilst IPL2020 has adopted this technology to improve the quality of service of its networks, it does not make use of RIP to its full potential.
As the number of applications in which the IP Multicast List is being applied grows, it is increasingly clear that this protocol needs to be extended into new areas in order to remain relevant. Given that the IML is now viewed as having had the job of supporting the organisation for almost two decades, the IPL2020 start on might need to do a lot more than it has to survive.
The SAP version of IML is expected to be ready for release later this year, and although it has been designed from the outset to stay up to date with the developments in the IML market, it will need to incorporate many new technologies in order to ensure that it is still available when the switch to the new protocol takes place. One of the other technologies being considered is a bridge layer software package called Onyx Network.
